It was confirmed to not come to NA some time ago (In the form of "Team Symphonia games are the only ones that go overseas), so a group started on it

Why do English-speaking Europeans buy European consoles, anyway? You guys consistently get the shortest end of the stick, and it would be heavily remedied by getting an American console Razz

^This

If all Japanese games had English Subtitles or I spoke Fluent Japanese, I'd ALWAYS get a Japanese Console.

Hopefully next gen Nintendo will follow Sony's example and make Wii2 (or whatever they call it) Region Free.
The Wii was originally going to be Region Free, but some 3rd Party Developers (probably Namco first) threatened to pull support, so Nintendo made it Region Locked.

Actually it was simply to stop piracy.

Now tell me... Uh how does it stop piracy?

I dunno, lets ask Reggie, he always had a way with words...

Reggie: "W-well, you see...uh...games from...er...Honk Kong tend to be bootlegged illegal copies so, uh...yeah."

>_>

<_<

The funny thing is the Hong Kong people will just code it to work on NA ones too, since they need to import them anyway. XD

No way, man. He wouldn't be like that.

He'd be all like:

"I am here today........ to tell you the REASON *wave hands around*...... why the Wii is region protected *walks around*................. it's because I.... kick ass *waves hands*.... and take names! *points at the crowd*

*APPLAUSE*

LMAO

It's more like this...

*Reggie walks out on stage*

"Many of you have been asking, 'Why...is...the Wii...Region Locked?' *walks aroud on stage* And today...I'm here...to answer that very question... You see...here at Nintendo...we're about offering games at the right time, and the right place...to appeal to both casual gamers and veteran gamers alike. And in order to maintain sales momentum...*gestures forward/back motion with hands* We have to release these games with the proper timing and advertisement, as well as price. Nintendo is all about *makes rainbow gesture with arms* surprising the consumer with new content that can appeal to both casual gamers & veterans alike. If you look here *clicks button that brings up on-screen flow chart* Mario Kart DS is...the best...selling...game...ever! *looks around, gets self-satisfied grin* Mario Kart DS is the best selling, longest running game in history, and it appeals to both casual gamers *clicks button to bring up screen with old woman playing DS* and veteran gamers *clicks button to bring up picture of teenage guy playing DS* alike. Nintendo is all about releasing games at the right time, with the right advertising, at the right price."

*Reggie walks off stage*

*crowd looks back and forth at each other, shrug, and begin applause*
