| Sorry to post 2 of my highly opinionated topics in one day, but I gotta because I'm outraged...
Game Censorship today is an absolute atrocity. I swear, I just don't know for the life of me what's wrong with people these days... How is it that any amount violence is okay okay in games, but not nudity? No matter what violent content you put in your game, it will NEVER merit anything over an M Rating. But Nudity is taboo, so people feel the need to remove it.
I'm sure I must come off as a perv, but I don't care... If you don't understand what I'm getting at with this then no amount of explanation as to why I feel this way would go right over your head. I'm not saying I want more nudity in games, I'm just saying that it disgusts me to no end that violence is more socially acceptable in today's society than nudity.
Lemme tell you how this came up... Have you been following Fallout New Vegas at all? If not, I'm not surprised as most folks here seem to be more into JRPGs than WRPGs. Here's the 411, since the game takes place in New Vegas, the game was going to include Exotic Dancers. In addition, it has also been said that the game may be more violent than Fallout 3. Now, if you've played Fallout 3, you'd know that that game was VERY violent! You could shoot/cut people's limbs off, blow their skull straight through the back of their head wth a shotgun, or completely eviscerate their bodies. Oh, and with the Cannibal perk, you can eat their dead bodies, and yes, it shows you do it! Pretty hardcore stuff, so if New Vegas is going to be more violent than FO3, it's gotta be the most violent game ever made. However, it was recently shown in a recent trailer that the Exotic Dancers were now going to wear bras rather than be topless as they originally were.
Don't get me wrong, it's not the removal of the Topless Exotic Dancers that's got me upset, it's the fact that they're cutting out the topless dancers in place of the violent content. Why is it that any level of violence no matter how graphic is always suitable for people 18 and up, but too much nudity and you might get an AO Rating?
Let me ask you all a question, and please answer... What is more offensive to you, a man who's been shot by a flame thrower with his skin melting off, screaming bloody murder, or women's breasts? Which would trigger a higher stressful emotional response in you? And which would you rather see in real life if given the choice?
Do you understand my point here? There is something TERRIBLY wrong with people these days, when graphic violence is completely okay, but nudity must be censored.

Oops, I was refering to censorship in America to begin with, (which also effects Canada & Mexico) probably should've specified that in the topic title.
*Alters Topic Title to reflect this*
However, I have to slightly disagree with you, Rasen. Perhaps it's because gaming is still partially viewed as a children/teen hobby, but movies & TV get much more leeway when it comes to nudity than video games.
There's plenty of full frontal nudity in R Rated movies and no one makes a noise, but side-boob in Mass Effect (an M Rated game) has Fox News all up in a tizzy. |

Indeed I have, (shameless Devil May Cry/God of War ripoff IMO) and that touches on a subject I forgot to cover in the OP...
For some reason, as long as it's not human, nudity is okay with the ESRB for some reason. It's like that in Dragon Age, especially... Topless demons & tree-women throughout, but Morrigan & Lilliana both wear bras during the love scenes should you choose to romance them. Basically, as long as it's not technically human, it's fair game. Even the human souls in Dante's Inferno got a pass because they're technically just spirits and not actual humans. Makes zero sense, I know...
In a related note, I've been playing Xenosaga lately, and some of the Gnosis have penises... Xenosaga is only Rated T, BTW. |

| I'll admit that the rating system is fucking stupid, sadly it comes from a deep view in our society that just isn't going to be fixed easily.
Also, teaching 100% Abstinence doesn't work as well lol ^_^
Still, something like South Park's movie is awesome because of this at least (they pretty much made it as a challenge to this subject). |

| Makes me wish we had the old one, the same people that let South Park on Nintendo 64 (No censors at all, even though i don't actually like south park...) |

wat
I love the show simply because of it's message: Kids are douchebags when parents aren't looking and get in to a kinds of trouble unsupervised. |

| I'd have to problem with nudity, so long as it wasn't promoted in a sexual way. That's the problem with people in America- the thoughts of nudity instantly points their attention to the bedroom, which is, for all intents and purposes, a taboo subject; both practices are completely natural, while one could argue that killing someone is unnatural unless the killer in question was acting out in self-defense or necessity. |
