Yep, I making ANOTHER of these. If you think that this is ridiculous, with me making so many blogs and having so little in each so far because I get distracted by a new one, that's what the poll is for. Originally, I was gonna get Guilty Gear Dust Strikers, but I wondered if it was as good as the other Guilty Gear/Blazblue games. I think both of those series look awesome, but I wasn't sure about that particular installment. So instead, I got the game mentioned in the thread's title that is because (A) It's a Japanese Anime-like game with huge robot battles and ect. and (B) There's also portions which require you to make wise and quick decisions. Somehow that appeals to me, IDK how. But let's get on with the actual blog now!

So, we start out with our protagonist, Shinjiro in Japan. There's plenty of voice acting, and Shinjiro has his own as well during animated cutscenes. But for some reason, he's the only one who doesn't have VA during dialogue where the others get some. We are called to a meeting with his uncle, where we are supposed to greet him with our first LIPS choice. That is, a choice where you must choose an option within a time limit. I choose a formal greeting over an informal one. Shinjiro expects to join the Imperial Army, but instead he is told he'll be assigned to New York. *Gasp* OMG! I mean, this isn't like there wwere a million hints I read which state the game takes place in the Big Apple! Except for everything. I was suprised just by an opening scene in Japan. So Shinjiro gets on a boat and is sent to America. Personally, something about an anime-esque game taking place in America appeals to me. But moving on.

We try to make our way around the streets of Manhattan, when two crooks come by. Naturally, since we are the main character and must resolve every crime which falls into our lap, we chase after them... but a girl on a horse beats us to the punch, using a... samurai sword? Awesome, yet odd. Anyone who knows at least a few details about the game in advance knows this is Gemini Sunrise, but I ask for her name anyway since Shinjiro doesn't know and I hope it helps him get a relationship with her. She hands us a bag of cash from the criminals, and somehow WE get busted for the crime. That's right, I'm taking you with me and Shinjiro, even though the Manhattan cops can't reach any of us but Shinjiro. Or at least I almost do, until an NPC whose name I forgot already helps us out. We then go to the theatre and meet Ratchet Altair, our captain. I respond to the next LIPS with "It's nice to meet you!" Or something to that effect and raise my trust with her, as indicated by a merry chime. Then we go to our appartment and I meet Rosarita Aries and Cherry Cocker. I forget what I did then, but somehow I raised our trust even though Rosarita acted with a little disdain after my choice. Still, I'll bet the other tweo would make her only more scared of Shinjiro. Oh, I forgot to mention that we meet up with Gemini again before we get to the apartment. Shin has no idea that this is the girl who both helped and harmed him earlier today. I raise our trust a bit with some choices I forget, and then we get to the apartment (See above for next part). Then I think I went to the Eyecatch screen where I can save and stuff.

Then I actually get to walk around the city. I do some stuff I forgot, except for one part. I go to the park with Gemini, and I get to examine some stuff with her on screen. You can examine the environment around her, details of Gemini, talk to her, or look at her boobs. Yes, there's even a pointer icon just for that. No, I didn't do it, I'd rather not get scolded by her for staring at her chest like a perv. I complimented her on her clothes, making her happy, and- oh, there's another part after that. I went to a shop on 5th Street with her and Ratchet. She asked how much longer it would take for her to have good taste or something (I forgot what she asked) and I had no idea how high I could go. I somehow said it'd take her 50 years and hurt her badly. Cue the depressing chime. AFter that and something else I forget, I get a call from Ratchet, who wants me back. She said I could take my time, but I felt like going right then. After some dialogue, I meet Subaru Kujou, the 3rd-person speaker. Being Japanese, I want to immediately set her to be my goal as the best trusted charcter... excpet I really can't be sure that she's even a she. What if this game might have a yaoi ending if she ends up being a he? O_O Still, I already have plans- just try to bond as much as possible with everyone, and hope I like the girl Shinjiro gets in the end. At this point, I tried to bond by saying "Let's be Japanese buddies!" or something like that, but Subaru says soemthing about all people being the same despite nationality. No increase of trust, but no decrease either. Then I meet Cheiron Archer, who makes me wish Mia Fey could have taken her place. Seroiusly, lawyers are awesome, but worst greeter ever. She threatens to "escort" me out of the building because I'm working underage, but I get Subaru to back me up, which actually increases my trust with Subaru. Cheiron, on the other hand, takes us to Sunnyside, who I should have mentioned earlier, to confirm that I am really the new member. I then learn that Shinjiro's uncle was supposed to come, which gets Shinjiro upset. I also learn that I cannot go on a mission because I'm no good enough and we're just an usher (Wut?!?). He heads outside and Ratchet tries to cheer her up. I forget what she asked about and what I said to her then, but it raised her trust in me, indicated by the chime. Then another Eyecatch screen and save again. This time, I can check the condition and trust of my teamates. For some reason, only Gemini, Cheiron, and Subaru are on this screen. Apparently, I have the most trust with the first of the mentioned. Fine by me, I'll take a samurai cowboy anyday. I saved and moved on to the next part.

Still no combat for me... *Sigh* I meet the disabled Diana Caprice, who I manage to get a little friendly with. Also, I forget most else of what I did, but at one point I had to do a Double LIPS. Basically, there's two LIPS gauges- a regular one for normal choices, and a large one that slowly depletes until I finish the entire set of LIPS choices. I help Gemini clean the hallway, but after mopping and wiping, she slips and gets water on herself! And the Double LIPS is still going! Cue dramatic BGM! I can continue cleaning with one of 2 choices, or clean Gemini first. I do the latter, getting more of her trust once and then again when we finish cleaning. Gemini screws up trying to prepare the show for tonight and the lights go out. Cheiron suggests firing Gemini, but I argue that she is our friend. This gets me on Gemini AND Ratchet's good sides. Subaru then gives me help in switching the power to the steam pipes, which I accomplish by pressing the control stick and pad on the Wiimote and Nunchuck. This is a more active type of LIPS scenarios. After that, I am given a list of instructions that Gemini guides me through since Subaru must go to act in the play. (I forgot to mention- yesterday, right before the alarm Shinjiro didn't get to answer, the show inspired him about everyone getting a chance to be a star in New York or something) Somehow, my dexterity or something attracts Gemini, making her like me more. But the realizes she forgot to flip the breaker, which we must do another LIPS by alternating up and down to race to the switch before the audience freaks out. Then I must do a LIPS to put as much effort as possible into flipping the switch with so little time. I succeed, and get a lot of trust. I get invited to Gemini's house and meet Larry the horse. If only this was Larry the Feraligator... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4LFByNHAgc But I digress with Youtube LPers who I watch a lot. I greet the horse in english and not horselish, which Gemini appreciates. Then another alarm goes off. Back to being a ush- WHAT?!? I actually get to fight this time because I did good saving the show?!? Finally, Shinjiro gets a chance to be awesome! I go to the Conference room and meet up with the others... including Cherry and Rosarita? They both operate from the base or something. Anyway, I learn about the STARs, uber cool steam punk robots, and go off with Cheiron, Subaru, and Ratchet. I get another Eyecatch screen before the first Battle Part, which I will do next time since I had to save and get off so I would remember as much of what I've typed as possible.

Did some more of Sakura Wars. I only did one part of the game today, but that means I can describe it in more detail. Also, something I forgot to mention in the last post- the main theme is awesome, and I especially like the first few seconds of it. Very dramatic!

Now, onto the game. As I thought (Because I read the enclosed instruction book), this next part was a Battle Part. Finally! You can still have conversations and bond with your teammates during battles, plus they are why it's important to not let them down. Stronger bonds means stronger Joint movbes and other battle bonuses. In a nutshell, someone is attacking the Statue of Liberty and we need to stop her and her robots. I was offered a turtorial by Ratchet, which I felt I could use. Ratchet went over the basics of moving and attacking, Cheiron taught me about Super Moves, and... I forget what Subaru showed me. But I know hwo to do it all. So I try to start off the fight with a Su- wait, did I press the wrong button?? I didn't mean to recharge SP, it's almost full! Now I guarded by mistake?!? What's wrong with me?!?

Thankfully, that was only the beggining, so I could reset and skip the turtorial this time. No more screwing up the easiest parts! I command Shin to attack, this time with basic combos. I destroyed an enemy with it. For now, I have no control over my allies- they are AI commanded. Eventually, we defeat about 4 or 5 enemy units and the mysterious girl summons a much larger, flying robot. I'd say it's about the size of the statue we're protecting. Yeah, that's a problem. It attacks the team on the ground with its scythe, and everyone dodges away- except Ratchet, who somehow cannot move. She gets hit, and her STAR starts to explode! I have another LIPS, but only one choice- (Save the Captain!) and an extremely short time to select it. I barely chose it on time, saving her and getting some points with Cheiron and Subaru.
Cheiron: I'm not sure whether we should call that bravery or stupidity.
... trust me, I heard the happy chime during that VA. Injured, Ratchet scolds me for getting out of my way to save her in the middle of a battle. She doesn't die, but she's badly injured for this scene. Before she gets picked up for treatment, she gives me one order- to Captain the team for the rest of the battle.
All: *Gasp*
The others object, but orders are orders. Now I can actually control the other team members during thier turns.

Now we move on to the next part of the fight. It becomes an entirely new battle, and my team starts near where Ratchet crashed. I can't remember much about what happened during this part, but I do know this- at one point, after I blew up I think my 3rd enemy, Subaru bonded with Shin a bit during the fight itself. The chime never lies! Then when I beat them all, that only left the airborne, obviously-a-boss enemy. Ratchet tells me to pull a lever to activate flight mode. I have to use a LIPS to raise a gauge to make sure I pull the correct one. I do so, and the fight takes to the skies. Flying controls are the same as ground, only you move on a 2-D plane wrapped around the boss and can move vertically. You can do everything you can on land, only you get to shoot MISSLES and your Super Moves change to fit an aerial battle. Before anything else, I took out the minor enemies. I'd rather not have them annoy me too much. Then I aim for the bosses weak points- the scythe, the neck, and the empty arm. Destroying each removed one attack form its arsenal. Then I tried to go for the head. It healed using a device on the back, but I was able to ignore that. Cheiron got that part, and revealed a new weak point- a Dark Pneuma Core or something. It had more HP than the first head, which made it tougher. Shin dealt the final blow with a 5-Missle combo, making a huge explosion. The girl who sent the robots in the first place mocks Shin with the end of the world or something and then sends the boss's remains to who-knows-where. The Statue of LIberty is saved, victory is ours! Now it's time for a SURPRISE VICTORY POSE which Shin is entirely unprepared for! Remember, victory poses aren't cool unless you're ready for them. Then everyone throws a party celebrating Shin as a pernament member of the New York Combat Revue, Star Division. Everyone, even the reluctant Cheiron, celebrates happily! And a familiar enemy watches from the shadows, saying something evil that I forgot. CUE MUSIC CHANGE FROM CELEBRATIVE TO FEARFUL! D:

Then there was a preview for Chapter 2, voiced by Cheiron. New York's a place where the law needs to be kept neatly or else, right? That's what Cheiron's all about. I'm guess that the next chapter of Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love conccentrates on her in "For the People, Of the People, By the People!" That is, assuming I had that order right. See you next time, anyone who's reading this!
