What's a "Nuzlocke" run?

Essentially Pokemon hard mode.

Hard mode?

Two ground rules:

1. When a Pokemon is KO'd, it is considered dead, and must be released. If all Pokemon in your possession are KO'd, it's game over, and you must start over.
2. You may ONLY catch the FIRST Pokemon on each new route.

and you can choose to add certain rules to make it more difficult on your own accord. I've added:

3. Set battle style. (option that makes it so you're not asked to switch after you've KO'd an opponents Pokemon.)
4. No healing items outside of battle. (Only PokeCenter and forced events for healing.)

Why's it called Nuzlocke?

Long story short, the person who originally did this used Ruby, and caught a Seedot (later evolved into Nuzleaf), and made a comic, with the face of his Nuzleaf being that of John Locke's from the show LOST. Thus, Nuzlocke.

Well lol I kind of just got talked into an (original) Red Nuzlocke race with friends, so I'll cover that here and do Leaf Green after that. Race starts at 9 PM EST.

First thirty minutes:

Oak: You can't go out there!
Me: Why the hell not?
Oak: Dangerous furry creatures await. Derpity derp come with me.
Me: Derp I want the Grass type
Blue: **** you I wanted it you dick fine I'll take the Fire type
Me: You bitch!

Dununununun- oh that was easy. Beat'd him. Going to Viridian.

Breeze through Viridian Forest with Pidgey, make it to Pewter town

FFUUUUUU nearly lost Bulbabro and Pigeybro versus the junior trainer, gonna go grind some outs- GODDAMMIT ANOTHER PIDGEY YOU'RE USELESS TO ME. Gotta get Bulbabro to 13 for Vine Whip.

Current positions:

Bulbasaur bulldozed through Brock with Vine Whip; going down Route 4, beating trainers with Pidgey when all of a sudden

Enter Mt. Moon and I take all of four steps when I encounter a ****ing Zubat. Not worth the Pokeball. But Bulbabro did evolve from it.

Have to retreat from Mt. Moon; very nearly lost both of my Pokemon. Done for now, may start up again later or tomorrow.

Oh and I'm aware that this blog is very... soulless, but it's because I'm having to play as fast as I can. Leaf Green playthrough will have more SOUL.

lulz I gave up on RBY Nuzlocke because Jason and Ria were mean and stayed up all night and beat us putting me and Shadow to shame. Leaf Green Nuzlocke... some time soon.
