10 years ago in a peaceful mid-western town called Raccoon City a viral outbreak occured, the cause of the outbreak was a bilogically produced virus known as the T-Virus that was developed by the pharmacutical company Umbrella Corp. that secretly made and tested bilogical weapons dubbed B.O.W.S by S.T.A.R.S. To cover up the inncident Umbrella had the goverment nuke the city thus erasing all evidence of the inncident's cause so Umbrella could not be pinned to it.
